Real Beauty?

I saw this video a couple of years ago and loved that it showed the truth about the women in beauty advertisements. Dove conducted a study in 2010 and found that of girls aged 8-17, 7 out of 10 feel like they don’t measure up. Girls are bombarded with pressure to have that “look” through all types of advertisements. This video shows hours of grooming and computer enhancements to make this one billboard ad. Girls, before you start comparing yourself to others or what you see in a magazine, tv, billboard, Internet, etc., ask yourself:

1. Is this real? Most (if not all) ads are enhanced.

2. What’s my definition of beauty? Real beauty is in who you are, not what you look like.

3. How do I see myself? Be the girl who is confident in who she is. Be the example for other girls and don’t be drawn into the lie that beauty is limited to outward appearance.

Keep it real.

Loved this!.. Marla, I used this to expose the little girls at our confidence workshop of the media’s view of beauty vs what real beauty really is… They were in awe….. Hope they are never tempted to compare themselves to an image that does not exist.., thanks for sharing!
